Full moon sound bath at yogaRIOT in Sellwood!!

I'm Gabrielle, and I'm so grateful that you are here! I found sound
healing through my therapist several years ago. He suggested
I try a sound bath to quiet my busy brain and to reduce my overall
anxiety and stress levels. Just a few minutes into that initial sound bath and I was hooked! Sound healing have become a regular and important part of my self-care routine, and the benefits have been monumental. My anxiety has significantly decreased, my mind is quick to quiet, I sleep deeply and soundly, and I am more present and truer to my authentic self on a daily basis. I am so grateful to be able to share the transformational benefits of sound with you!
After a few years of feeling the positive effects of sound healing in my own life, I was drawn to learn all about sound healing and how to
share this wellness modality with others who may benefit from it as much as I have. I am so fortunate and grateful to have been mentored by the woman who facilitates the sound baths I attend. I also dove headfirst into studying the history and science of sound healing through several professional organizations. I consider myself a student at all times, learning from teachers worldwide to continue to evolve on my path. I play a variety of instruments including gongs, crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, crystal pyramid, crystal harp, swinging meditation chimes, ocarina drone flute, tuning forks, steel tongue drum, and chimes to guide you into a relaxed state where the sound waves wash over and through your body.
What you can expect at one of my sound baths
At my sound baths, I curate a comfortable and safe space for you to be as relaxed as possible. I start the sound bath with an intention setting. I share my intention for the sound bath and invite you to create your own intention. This can be letting go of something that no longer serves your highest good and wellbeing - thought patterns, beliefs, negative self-talk, etc. By intentionally letting go of what no longer serves you well, you are opening space for what you want to invite in. Your intention is all yours. We then move into a body awareness breathing exercise to help guide you into a present and quiet space. This body awareness breathing exercise focuses on releasing tension you may not even be aware that you are holding. From your tips of your toes to the top of your head, you are guided through releasing and relaxing. Though I play a bit during the body awareness and breathing exercise, the sound bath truly begins at the completion of this introductory relaxation.   The sound bath ends with stillness and silence, giving your mind, body, and spirit a chance to integrate your experience. We stretch, yawn, and meet in a sitting position when you are ready. We close with a breathing exercise to help awaken you, and an encouragement of starting a gratefulness journal by writing down three things you are grateful for when you get home that evening. Just as sound baths have been so transformational for me, keeping a daily gratefulness journal has also been a game changer that I love to share with others. Gratefulness can be such a powerful perspective shift!
What should you bring to a sound bath?
Bring whatever will aid in your comfort. You will likely be laying on the ground, and your comfort is paramount to your experience. I have found that if any part of my body begins to hurt from laying on the ground, I am then focused on that part of my body and my mind is out of the sound bath. I encourage you to bring what makes you comfortable: camping mattress, padded mat, sleeping bag, blanket, pillow, water, etc. Think of making yourself a cozy nest to be comfortable laying in for 90 minutes.  Many people like to bring a journal so that they can jot down their experience and feelings after the sound bath. Sound baths are a felt experience, not a thought experience, so by being comfortable, you can be more fully present in the felt experience.
